Review FAQ

How do I order my textbooks?

Refer to your course syllabus for a list of required textbooks. If textbooks are required, you should order them at the same time you enroll so you may begin your course promptly.

The cost of textbooks is not included in your course fees. You may order your textbooks through the University Bookstore or through the textbook provider of your choice. To order through the University Bookstore on the Grand Forks campus, call toll free at 866-791-4888 or order online.

To order online:
  1. Go to: University Bookstore
  2. Click on "Books" and then "Textbooks & Course Materials."
  3. Select your "Program" as CORRESPONDENCE/PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT.
  4. The "Term" of your course will be CORR/PROF DEVELOPMENT ENROLL ANYTIME.
  5. Select the "Department" of your course, e.g. T&L, ART, etc.
  6. Select your "Course" by COURSE #900.
  7. Select your "Section" by the partial COURSE TITLE.
  8. Follow the checkout process.

The system will prompt you to register, which allows you to revisit your order if you need to make a change.

Your textbooks can be shipped to you, or you may pick them up at the University Bookstore in Grand Forks, ND.

IMPORTANT! You cannot place your order or pay for your textbooks through UND Professional Development for Educators.

What are the technology requirements to take an online course?

Before enrolling, you must verify that your computer equipment meets the minimum technology requirements needed for an online course. For specific technology requirements, please refer to Learn How Online Courses Work.

How do I complete my lessons?

All lessons are submitted online. You will receive specific instructions on how to submit your lessons in Blackboard, UND's online course management system, once you gain access to your online course.

You must complete your lessons in consecutive, numerical order. For "enroll anytime" courses, you should submit no more than 2 lessons during a 7 day period. For "term-based" courses, your instructor will set deadlines for completing your lessons and other course activities.

If you need help with your assignments, you may contact your instructor through e-mail or phone.

How long do I have to complete the course?

Term-Based Online Courses

Course terms vary in length from 4 to 8 weeks, depending on the number of professional development credits offered.

No extensions are available for term-based online courses. If you do not withdraw or complete the course within the specified time frame, a U or a failing grade (dependent upon the type of grading requested) will be permanently recorded on your transcript.

Enroll Anytime Online Courses

You have 4 months to complete your course. If you need more time, you may apply for a 3-month extension for $35 prior to your 9-month completion date. Only 1 extension is allowed. To purchase an extension, please complete the Extension Request Form.

Your 3-month extension will start from your original completion date, so you should request an extension prior to the end of your 9-month completion date. The letter I for incomplete will be permanently noted on your transcript.

If you do not withdraw, get an extension, or complete the course within 9 months, a failing grade will be permanently recorded on your transcript.

How do I request a transcript?

All grades for professional development credits are recorded on official transcripts at the University of North Dakota as continuing education credits. Please see Grades & Transcripts for complete information.

What happens if I need to withdraw from an online course?

If you need to withdraw from an online course, you must notify UND Professional Development for Educators in writing by completing the Course Withdrawal Form.

If you do not withdraw or complete the course within the specified time frame, a U or a failing grade (dependent upon the type of grading requested) will be permanently recorded on your transcript.
